  1. WATER BAPTISM An Examination of the Scriptures By Rev. D. L. McQuinn Welcome To this Exciting New Home Bible Study Let’s begin with…

  2. How to Use this Study • Open your Heart • Open your Bible (we are using the KJV unless otherwise noted) 3. Pray for God to give you a love for truth, and a love for His Word as well as understanding and wisdom. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17(KJV) Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. Prov 23:23(KJV) 4. Carefully read each scripture text from this presentation, find it in your own Bible, read the context and feel free to mark it, underline it so you can find it again.

  3. How to Use this Study 5. Keep a journal of all the scriptures. Make a note of any questions you may have. • Remember to use proper Biblical interpretation. The Bible is made up of 66 books. • When reading one of these books ask yourself these elementary questions. Who wrote the book? Who was it written to? When was it written? 8. Please feel free to email any comments or questions to beaconoftruth@sasktel.net

  4. WATER BAPTISM IS A NECESSARY PART OF SALVATION • Mark 16:15-16 • And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. • John 3:5 • Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. • With preaching the gospel comes believing and baptism. • Not “He that believes and is saved should be baptized” as some teach. • Jesus taught the necessity of baptism not only of water but also of the Spirit.

  5. WATER BAPTISM IS A NECESSARY PART OF SALVATION (Con’t) 1 Pet 3:20-21 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: • Saved by baptism. • How important was the ark to Noah’s salvation? • Do we really have a good conscience toward God if we know our baptism is not true to what the Bible teaches?

  6. Which Bible should I use? We are using the King James version throughout this study as it is still the most widely used biblical translation. Any bible that you would buy at a Christian book store will work just fine for this study, however we do recommend the KVJ followed by the New King James version and the NIV. Return to presentation
