  1. Blog1: gammafoundries.com Brass Foundry Tips and All About Brass Casting As can be discerned by the name, brass casting is a process that uses molten brass and molds it into required shapes. This process can be done by a sand-casting company with the help of a process known as sand. After being poured, the molten brass in the mold is allowed to be air-cooled, which causes the metal to solidify. Once the metal has turned into a solid, the mold is removed. The process of sand molding or sand casting is of two types –‘Green sand’ and ‘Air set’ molding. Whereas ‘green sand’ molding is made up of moist clay, silica sand, and other additives. On the other hand, ‘air set’ molding involves all the materials used in the green sand method, except the moist clay. This mixture is dry, and the different materials are bonded together with the help of an adhesive. What is eco brass? Eco brass is free from lead and is a high-performance copper alloy with superior properties compared to regular copper alloys. This kind of brass is very strong, has excellent machinability, and is very resistant to corrosion and wear and tear. Many a sand-casting foundry has started casting this superior brass instead of the earlier variety. Eco brass is especially useful in making drinking water fixtures and is also very useful in the electrical, electronic, and automotive industries. The foundries that have switched to molding this environment- friendly brass have eliminated 1000 tons of lead per year, which greatly benefits the environment. Apart from such environment-friendly brass, the earlier brass variety is also being used because the new lead-free cannot completely replace it completely. Hence, if you are looking for environment-
