  2. The Articles: a, an & the A/ AN  non- specific objects, people, animals.. “Let’s go to a classroom” (they can go to ANY classroom) THE  specific objects, people, animals.. “Let’s go to the classroom” (the speaker & listener(s) know to which classroom they have to go)

  3. A or AN? A  consonant A car, a bus, a student, a horse…. AN  vowel (a, e, i, o, u) An apple, an elephant, an animal…

  4. We use THE with… • The names of certain countries the Netherlands, the Philippines, the United States • The names of certain mountains, rivers, oceans and seas the Andes, the Nile, the Pacific • Points on the globe the Equator, the North Pole • Deserts, forests, gulfs, and peninsulas the Sahara, the Persian Gulf, the Black Forest, the Iberian Peninsula

  5. We can’t use THE with • Names of countries Italy, Mexico, Bolivia… • Names of cities, towns, or states Seoul, Miami • Names of streets • Names of lakes and mountains Lake Erie, mount Everest • Names of continents Asia, Europe

  6. Infinitive of Purpose To say (T(Z)Eko) –that is, to express purpose, we use the infinitive: TO + VERB I came to talk with you (zurekin hitz egiteko) She stopped to watch the shoes (zapatak ikusteko)

  7. Topic for the Early Bird (19th of December) “When I’m the teacher, I’m going to….”
