  4. AIMS A Test Coordinator Responsibilities • Train anyone who will be administering AIMS A. Obtain signed AIMS A Test Security Agreement. • Inventory and Distribute AIMS A Test Materials. • Coordinate AIMS A assessment Observations by External Educational Consultants • Monitor completion of assessments for eligible AIMS A students. • Report any testing incidents to Alternate Assessment Unit.

Training for Test Administrators • Training must be completed prior to administering the AIMS A assessment. • Training must include: • test security • logging into AIMS A application • entering students • AIMS A formats • preparing test materials (data sheets) • how to use AIMS A Performance Task Scoring Rubric

  6. Test Security Agreement for Test Administrators Upon completion of PEA training by AIMS A Test Coordinator, all test administrators must read and sign the AIMS A Test Security Agreement. Must be retained by the PEA for 6 years!

  7. AIMS A Test Materials • AIMS A Test Materials must be inventoried! AIMS A Test Coordinator must notify Alternate Assessment Unit, if a student was entered after January 31.

  9. External Observations • The Alternate Assessment Unit will select PEAs at random to be observed by external educational consultants. The external consultants are providing feedback in the assessment process. Assessment monitoring is required to ensure test validity and reliability. State law authorizes monitoring and evaluation activities to determine the effectiveness of programs for meeting the educational needs of children with disabilities.

  10. Monitoring • AIMS A Test Coordinators can monitor the completion of the assessment through the AIMS A application using the Student Status Report Complete indicates that on the AIMS A test both Performance Tasks and Multiple Choice have been completed.

Testing Incidents • AIMS A Test Coordinators will use the AIMS A application to submit any test incidents to the Alternate Assessment Unit. • Once ADE is notified that an incident has been submitted a response and explanation of how to proceed will be issued. • A test incident should be issued for: test security violations, time extension requests, incomplete tests, after-hours and any other anomaly in the assessment.

Administering the AIMS A • Students are assessed in Math and Reading in grades 3 – 8 and High School and in Science in grades 4, 8, and High School* • The AIMS A Format - Multiple Choice and Performance Tasks • All sections must be completed during the testing window FEBRUARY 15-MARCH 31, 2014. • ALL testing must be completed during school hours! (*Grade 10 or second year of high school)

AIMS A FORMAT – MULTIPLE CHOICE • The Multiple Choice questions are administered online and have a question and three answer choices. • The Performance Task questions are administered face to face with a student and have question prompts and answer card choices scored with a rubric. • Test Administrators will receive test materials in a set (not for each individual student).

Data Sheets and Scoring Rubric • The Data Sheets with the performance task question prompt is located on the AIMS A homepage. • The Data Sheets and Scoring Rubric should be downloaded and printed prior to administering the AIMS A assessment. • The Test Administrator will download the data sheets for all their eligible students Store the sheets securely during the assessment. Once the test administrator has inputted the results in the AIMS A application, the data sheets should be kept securely stored by the PEA. Data sheets should not be returned to ADE.

  19. Performance Task Scoring Rubric Test Administrators will use this scoring rubric for the Performance Tasks. Test Administrators should also view the video demonstration through IDEAL. http://www.azed.gov/special-education/aimsa/teachers/

Navigating to the test • The test administrator (teacher) must complete Learner Characteristics Inventory Survey for each student participating in AIMS A. • To access the assessments the test administrator will click on the student’s SAID ID. The survey will automatically pop up once the test administrator selects the first assessment for the student.

  22. Student Assessment • The Assessments the students has been assigned will show here. • Once the test is complete a green complete will display. Verify the grade is correct. If there is an error DO NOT CONTINUE, contact Alternate Assessment Unit. The Test Administrator (teacher) will also input the results from the data sheets here! Test Administrators can view the multiple choice by clicking here.

  23. AIMS A Test Window • The AIMS A Test window will close on March 31, 2014. • Test Administrators will no longer have access to the AIMS A application. • If a time extension has been requested and approved the AIMS A Test Coordinator will have to complete testing with the student.
