  1. Digital Video Portal (DVP) Is meant to provide access, via the PPS network, to 4 tuners that are capable of playing cable TV channels, DVDs, and VCR tapes.

  2. Login – How To… Works only from PPS network, not from home • Open Internet Explorer. • Type “dvp.” • Click enter. • Use your PPS username (first.lastname) and confidential password to login to the system.

  3. Tuners - Setup • The first 3 tuners are set to specific COX Cable television stations and will notbe changed. • The fourth tuner will be set to PSET (Channel 47) and will also be available for playing building administrator approved TV channels, DVDs, or VCR tapes.

  4. Tuners – How to • The screen shot below shows the interface as you will see it when you login. • You will select the Tuner you would like to view by clicking on the name shown on the right hand side. • Note that clicking on the channel number and/or log on the left will not select the Tuner. Yes No • Important – The system does not workwhile wireless is on.

  5. Full Screen View 2 Possible Ways: “Full” button– This will not allow you to stop, if needed. The “Green” arrow – This will open a new window, allowing to stop.

  6. Change of Content Form • Authorization to play videos/TV programming on the fourth tuner can only be obtained in advanced by using the CHANGE OF CONTENT form, which can be located within the network (not at home): • In the URL, type “csi” • Under “Forms and Reports, select “Forms” • On the left hand side, select “General School Forms” • Open the pdf or Word format of the “Digital Video Portal (DVP) Change of Content Request Form” • This request form must be signed by your building administrator only, not by the Librarian. • Once the form has been signed, it will be given to the Librarian who is assigned to set the tuner to the requested content or station. • Again, do not forget, in order to play a video or TV station, the form must be approved by your building administrator.

  7. Who can access and view what is playing? • Any staff member can access and view what is playing on the 4 Tuners, using either their laptop or desktop computers, within the Network (not at home). • Content can be viewed on the computer’s monitor, Multimedia system also known as MCPS, Promethean systems, or by using portable data projectors. • Remember that it will not work: • On televisions • With Wireless • Only the school library Media Specialist can change the tuner 4. • Please note that on that 4th tuner, teachers cannot stop or pause. • On the fourth Tuner, this functionality is primarily for displaying a limited number of TV channels or common video content to the entire school. • Examples: • Broadcast of the Presidential Inauguration • Ataped message from Your Principal or the PPS Superintendent.
