  3. Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 2. Kids get bored with only discussion, lectures and reading.

  4. Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 3. Teacher’s manuals make suggestions for media to be used in lessons.

  5. Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 4. Learning styles of students vary greatly. Use variety to “catch” them all.

  6. Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 5. It’s the best technique to accomplish a specific goal or objective.

  7. Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 6. The Office of Evangelization & Catechesis Media Centers have Media to lend.

  8. “There is just not enough time to put media into my lesson plan.” Media is not something extra put into a lesson plan. Media takes the place of less interesting activities. Media teaches in a different way. Media is a tool.

  9. Use Media in each step of a lesson 1. To Open the lesson and start interest (Human Experience) 2. To present the concepts & doctrine (Message) 3. To give time for reflection on what was learned (Discovery) 4. To challenge students to apply what was learned (Response)

  10. Use Media to… Introduce a new topic. Review a finished topic or unit. Serialize a topic. Get discussion started. Let the experts handle the tough subjects.

  11. Use media to… Take your students back in time. Prepare for a field trip. Look at an old topic in a new way. Play a trivia game.

  12. Use media to… Enhance a lesson or prayer with music. Pray or meditate. Amazing Grace 
