  4. Why do we collect student data? Data is collected to support federal, state, and local accountability systems designed to assess the effectiveness of the funding recipients in achieving progress in Career and Technical Education.

  5. What do we collect? • Pathway Participant and Concentrator data • Competency Percentage • Assessments • Certifications/Credentials • Single Parent Status • Follow-up Information • All other information is taken from other reporting systems • Every district. Every Pathway. Every student with at least 1.0 credit in an approved pathway.

  6. Pathways: Participants and Concentrators • Participant: A student who has earned one (1) but less than three (3) secondary level credits in a single career and technical education (CTE) pathway • Concentrator: A student who has earned three (3) or more secondary level credits in a single CTE pathway, with two (2) of those credits being at the technical and application level. This is a freshmen-junior. • *Concentrator who Exited: A student who has met the criteria to be considered a concentrator AND has graduated secondary education with their cohort class AND has met at least 80% of their pathway competencies.  • Concentrator who Exited for Other Reasons: A student who has met the criteria to be considered a concentrator who exited but has either 1) not met at least 80% of the competencies by graduation or 2) will not graduate with their cohort class. The reasons for this include but are not limited to the student: transferring out of district, dropping out of high school, or passing away.*These are the students who will be followed up on in the following Spring (2013).

  7. How is pathways connected to other systems?

  8. Student Records Students must be reported at the building that they are taking the course in KiDS. The pathway must also be approved at the building that the courses are being taught at.

  9. Competency Percentage Competency percentage is used for concentrators who exit, if an end-of-pathway assessment is not in place. Competency percentage is calculated based on the % of competencies a student can meet for the pathway. State approved competency profiles should be kept on file locally for concentrators who exit for at least 5 years after the student graduates.

  10. Assessments If an end-of-pathway assessment is in place for a pathway, it will be available to select in Section IV of the application. Then, this assessment will appear in the “Update Students” screen of the student data management section with a pass/fail option. Currently, Health Science is the only pathway that has an assessment. Other areas are part of the CETE assessment project.

  11. Certifications/Credentials Certifications/Credentials that are offered to students in the pathway must be listed in Section IV of the CPPSAs. When a student obtains the certification and is a concentrator that exits, the certification should be checked by the students name.

  12. Single Parent Status The student (female or male) is a parent themselves or expecting a child.

  13. Follow-up Information Due April 15ththe year after concentrators exited from high school Enter students satisfaction with the pathway: very satisfied, satisfied, unsatisfied Enter Follow-up Status: Employed-related to program, employed-NOT related to program, continued education, military, no placement, unknown

  14. What if data is not reported? The state will withhold Perkins funding.

  20. Section IIB Example: It was reported that there was 5 concentrators who exited the pathway with a competency score of 80% or above. There were 7 juniors in the pathway that were reported as concentrators, as they had 3.0 credits in the pathway. There were 52 students reported as participants that had at least 1.0 credit in the pathway. 10 students earned the OSHA 10 hours safety certification, and 4 students earned the NCCER Core Certification. There were 10 students considered nontraditional for this pathway that were participants. For the current year, we have 85 students enrolled in pathway courses. There was a graduation rate of 100% for students that had taken at least 2.0 credits in this pathway. This pathway was once again indicated as a high demand occupation area for our county. Concentrators that exited the previous year had three students that are employed in the pathway area, three that have continued their schooling in the pathway, and one has continued their education in a different field.
