Requirements • 1/3 of congregation take the household energy reduction pledge and document achievement of pledge. • Reduce church energy use by 25% from baseline year. • Raise funds – Apprx $35-$40,000 to install the Solar panels; $24,000 of which will be refunded by IHPL upon final installation.

  3. Requirements • Promoting and hosting a Solar Leadership Party and Forum upon installation of solar panels. Invite news media and local elected officials (mayor, city council, county commissioners and state legislators). • Upon making good progress with its energy conservation goals, no later than 24 months after the start of the grant period, providing H-IPL with a one-to-three page case study of the steps it has taken to reduce its own and its members’ energy use. • Working with its denominational body as possible and with technical content supplied by H-IPL, organizing a congregational energy use workshop for congregations of its denomination or faith tradition. • Contacting at least 25 congregations or as many as exist in Indiana, whichever is less, of its own faith tradition to personally invite them to participate in the above workshop. • Publicizing its activities related to the grant through its own website and newsletter and placing a sign in the front of the congregation’s building indicating that it is using solar energy. • For the duration of the grant, having one of its members serve on H-IPL’s IMP grant compliance group – a group that will meet periodically to discuss progress.

  5. Creation Care Pledge • Our faith calls us to care for creation both for the world’s well-being and our own. We are connected in a great web of life that links together the love of God and neighbor with that of God’s while creation. • I wish to join a movement of those dedicated to prudently using the gifts we have been given by reducing household energy usage by at least 14% or less than ½ that of an average Hoosier household that is the size of my household. • I understand that I do not act alone but in concert with this community, as well as with many other faith communities, as together we respond to this great challenge of our time.
