Student Expectations Crusader Code • Be respectful (allow Mr. Nye to conduct his class) • Be responsible (get to class on time, complete your work, etc.) • Be prepared (bring appropriate materials to class, be ready to work) Do the right thing! (You are in high school. You know the difference between right and wrong)

Appropriate Behavior • Listen without communicating to others while the teacher is talking • Keep your head up and eyes focused on the teacher or activity • When the teacher asks me to do something, I immediately respond without argument • Respond to the teacher in a pleasant, non-confrontational manner • Cooperate with the rules and procedures of the classroom and school • Participate in the activity or lesson that is taking place • Nothing you do requires the teacher to individually correct your behavior • Refrain from inappropriate activities such as “yapping” back and forth with other students, throwing paper, hitting, slapping, punching, horseplay, etc. • Address your concerns to Dr. Nye before or after class. • Appropriate language

Green Eggs and Ham Ingredients 1-2 tablespoons of butter or margarine4 slices of ham8 eggs2 tablespoons of milk 1-2 drops of green food coloring1/4 teaspoon of salt1/4 teaspoon of pepper Steps knife, medium-size mixing bowl, wire whisk or eggbeater, large frying pan, spatula, aluminum foil, serving plates 1. With an adult's help, melt a teaspoon of butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add sliced ham and brown until edges are slightly crisp. Remove the ham from the pan, cover with aluminum foil, and set aside. 2. In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Beat with a whisk until frothy. Then add 1-2 drops of green food coloring until you reach the desired shade of green. 3. With an adult's help, heat a tablespoon of butter or margarine in a large frying pan over medium heat until the butter begins to sizzle. Then add the egg mixture to the pan. 4. Stir the egg mixture with a spatula until the eggs are firm and not too runny. 5. Transfer the eggs to individual plates. Garnish with a sprig of parsley. Add the ham prepared earlier.   12. Example of a Poor Goal • I want to be a failure If you achieve the goal, then you have succeeded (you met your goal) If you do not achieve the goal, then you have succeeded (you were not a failure) So, you succeed either way. However, it is not a good goal!

Get to know the students while mixing in your knowledge of mathematics 2. Add a positive attitude and stir in a dash of fun 3. Use hard work to complete the recipe What You’ll Get: All students pass (measurable) Lots of stress A rewarding feeling
