  1. Status Report #1 LYRAThe Remote Accessible Automated Camera Stand Developed by: Juan Cuellar, Nathan Dye, Timothy Hawley, & Matthew Hect September 17, 2012 LYRA is a remote accessible automated camera stand that is controllable by external computer systems (such as laptops, tablets, and cellphones).

  2. Purpose: • LYRA is designed with the intent to aid photographers by allowing remote access to existing equipment without removing access to software level systems in order to give the photographer more freedom than would normally be available. Design Milestones: • Determine all parts needed for design and order any parts that are needed • Create CAD rendering of structure that is to be implemented • Design a power regulation and distribution system • Start programming the GUI and main controller for the stand • Build final system and run tests

  3. To Date: • All parts to be ordered have already been ordered • Belt guidance system has been fabricated • Overall structure has been prototyped • Some programming has been completed for the main stand controller • Programming phase has begun for the GUI system • Power source has been decided and power controller design has been started • Voltage regulation circuit schematic is accomplished and will be constructed and test run on an Elvis board.

  4. Ongoing Tasks: • Programming the main controller for the stand • Computer interface program (GUI) • Research into common practices for given tasks • Class based tasks for progress (such as notebooks) • We have switched control systems to allow for more processing. • Updated the controller work with our libraries to get better understanding of how to implement them • Finishing voltage regulation

  5. This Week’s Tasks: • Wireless control of the servos and have the camera connected. • Servos motors are moving but a program to control them is needed. • Test prototype power system (breadboard) • Order backup power source (ac power) • Work on the Gerber files for the circuit. • Order the legs for the tripod
