  3. HTTP • (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) Asking for a webpage from a web server, web server which replies Refers to the application, usually a web browser which makes the request. the range of this is world wide wasim akram

  4. TCP/IP • TCP/IP is a set of protocols that operate on 4 layers to be able to connect LANS PANS WANS MANS to communicate with each other. TCP handles exchanging data between the two networks and the IP part of it is the address where the message is going or wants to be sent. wasim akram

  5. Bluetooth • Bluetooth is used to send and receive data up to 3 Mbts. The ranges it can operate to be up to 10-100 meters. The security issue with this is people can hack into the device if there is no password required. wasim akram

  6. Ethernet • A connection that is used for local area networks by a wire called coaxial cable which carries radio frequencies between computers at a rate of 10 megabits per second wasim akram

  7. Star • Star topologies are the most commonly used structures in places like offices and homes. All the computers are connected to the hub or switch which is normally in the middle. The advantages of a star structure are that it’s cheap and easy to install. If one of the computers go down on a fault the others are still up and running however the disadvantage is that if the hub or switch has a fault then no one can use the computers so it’s all relying on it wasim akram

  8. Bus • Bus topologies use a single wire (backbone) to connect all devices such as printer’s pc’s which there for if there is a problem it’s easier to locate where it is. It works by sending a message to the next computer on the backbone and if it’s not that computer it sends it to next one. It’s one of the cheapest networks to set up. One of the disadvantages of having a bus network is that it has low security as data is passed down the network and also one of the main problems are that if the hub or router breaks down all the network will be down. wasim akram

  9. Mesh • Mesh network is always connected to a sever or a hub. Each computer is also connected to each other computer which would be very expensive to set up because they use a lot of cabling. So if one of the connections goes down it would find another route to send the data. wasim akram

  10. Hub Router Switch Hub • Is a small simple device that connects computers together to send and receive data you can get different hubs that offer only 10 Mbps rated speeds. Newer types of hubs offer something like 100 Mbps Router • The router is a central device which all machines connect to A router would also be needed to connect to the internet a router sends data packets to their destinations based on the address it is usually connected to from a LAN Switch • A switch is a device that connects lots of computers to each other with in a LAN a switch is the more intelligent one because it sends out messages to the computer that it was meant to send it to instead of asking each on. wasim akram

  11. devices • Mobiles phones - are used to communicate with each other it has a range of worldwide communication. You can get mobiles in 2g 3g and 4g these offer a variety of services. • Walkie talkie–is a two way radio receiver, it uses waves for person alone-to-one communications. Only one person can speak at a time. • Digital X-ray – digital images can be stored and used anywhere in the hospital. It uses a form of electromagnetic radiation wasim akram
