  1. Plan Ahead! • The next test will be Friday, March 26. • There will be 14 words from 3 sections. • It will be Spring! (technically, anyway) • So, consider this a bouquet of words!

  2. Week 1 • Here today; gone tomorrow • Words relating to being short lived in time or place.

  3. Ephemeral- adj • Lasting a short time; fleeting • Known as a heart-breaker, Emily’s romances are typically ephemeral; she just skips from one guy to another. Ask Tyler.

  4. Volatile- adj • Explosive or changing very quickly • You see, Tyler and Emily were a very volatile couple. They would break up and make up.

  5. Evanescent- adj • Vanishing quickly; fleeting • Rumor is that an evanescent ghost haunts Elsinore.

  6. Peripatetic- adj • Moving or walking about; itinerant • During his lecture, the professor paced peripatetically around the lecture hall.

  7. Transient- adj • Lasting for only a short time; temporary • Instead of renting an apartment, the transient workers stayed in a motel before moving to the next location.

  8. Week 2 • Easy does it… • Words relating to being careful

  9. Circumspect- adj • Careful and cautious before acting • Kevin contributes less to class discussions than some of the other students do, but his thoughtful comments reveal his circumspection.

  10. Gingerly- adj • Very carefully • In the house of cards tournament, the contestant gingerly placed the fiftieth card on the stop of the stack.

  11. Meticulous- adj • Very careful; finicky, fastidious • Her appearance is meticulous: clothes and accessories match; hair, perfect, and the make-up, flawless.

  12. Scrupulous- adj • Showing great care and honesty • Everyone thought that Senator Edwards was a scrupulous politician, until his mistress and new baby were exposed.

  13. Wary- adj • Cautious, careful • Be wary of offers that sound too good to be true; they may be a trap.

  14. Week 3 • Mmmmm! Delicious! • Words relating to food and hunger

  15. Abstemious- adj • Holding back from eating or drinking too much • With a buffet dinner that includes unlimited delicious desserts, it is hard to be abstemious.

  16. Alimentary- adj • Relating to food and nourishment • In Mr. Broadie’s health class, the students watched videos about nutrition, digestion, and other alimentary matters.

  17. Epicurean- adj • Having to do with relishing the pleasure of eating and drinking • At the Mongolian Buffet, Kelly filled her bowl with lots of epicurean delights.

  18. Palatable- adj • Pleasing to the taste buds • To make the bowl of food even more palatable, Kelly sprinkled some cheese on top.
