  2. Outline • Scope of X-Ray Endstation Systems (XES) • Layout • Status • Milestones • Plan for FY07 • Budget and Staffing • Summary

  3. Scope and Goals • The X-Ray Endstation Systems (XES) group provides the infrastructure required for experimenters to make best scientific use of the LCLS radiation safely • XES equips a complete instrument for Atomic Physics Experiments • Coordinate all safety related aspects for the user environment and the experiments • Coordinate with the LUSI project

  4. The Endstation Systems include: Infrastructure for LCLS Experiments: • Safety Systems • X-ray Personnel Protection System (PPS) • Laser Safety System (LSS) • Machine Protection System (MPS) • User safeguards • Controls • Network, data management and storage • High level applications • Laser timing system • Prototype Detector • New type of x-ray detector for LCLS experiments Instrumentation for first Atomic Physics experiments: • AMO chambers, sample source, detectors, optics, diagnostics • Beamline controls • Synchronized laser system Installation and Commissioning: • Integration with rest of LCLS and with LUSI Project

  8. Recent Developments: • Management: • XES Controls (1.6.2./2.6.2) Hamid Shoaee (CAM) • XES Laser Systems (1.6.4.) Bill White (CAM) • Scope changes: • Deleted streak camera • Transferred k-spectrometer to XTOD • Deleted laser amplifier of XES laser

  9. XES Status • Updated and revised schedule of the entire 1.6/2.6 WBS • Revised estimate to complete (ETC) for all control accounts • Developed XES installation schedule • Cornell 2 D Detector • LDAC Review #3 for FY06 (July 19-20, 2006) • Good review, on schedule • Next review early 2007 • AMO Instrument • Developed scientific program with AMO science group • PRD draft • System Concept Review in November • Coordination with LUSI

  10. XES Status (cont.) • Define requirements for PPS with Radiation Physics group. • PRD or Stoppers • Preparing PRD for k- spectrometer (LLNL) • Developed XES controls schedule • Fully integrated • Design started on AMO and 2D detector controls • Design starting on all systems
