  3. QUESTION 4 http://prezi.com/zrrya63ysgc_/edit/

  4. 5)IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?

  5. Strap line: these are very common in magazines. Not only music magazines but other genres as well . This is just another way of attracting audiences to the magazine. I received the idea of including the names of celebrities from the following Vibe magazine. Masthead: Vibe magazine use thick bold font for their masthead however I have decided not to go with this font as it was not consistent with the rest of the conventions in my magazine. As the rest of the conventions of my magazine have a calming effect I decided it would not had been a good idea to use a thick font for my Masthead. As well as that, it was important for me to consider that Vibe magazine were reflecting back on Hip pop as well R&B so therefore the thick bold font was reflective of their genre, however my genre was only R&B so therefore a thinner font would have been reflective of my genre. Since I have acknowledged that other magazines focus on making their conventions (including their contents page) consistent with one another I have also delivered this in my front cover. The connotations that could be received from the Masthead ‘Quaver’ is a musical note which then reflects back on the genre of the magazine which is a music magazine. Pug: used in different forms of magazines as well as a music magazine. It is used to convince the audience to buy the magazine. Looking at other magazine I have acknowledged that other magazines usually present this in outstanding colour which I have also delivered. Font: The idea of the different font I used I also received from Vibe magazines. I believed that this colours worked well together so I used a similar idea for my own magazine Layout: There is a calm effect to my magazine to reflect back on the relaxing beat of R&B music – this is also presented in some of Vibe magazine. Moreover, like my own magazine, a lot of the Vibe magazine usually have their text within the sides of the page. Although there are not many of them which do not have their Headline going across their page, I have seen other music magazines who have used this strategy and the layout still looks effective such as: The Price and the Barcode are features which are expected in all magazines. As well as that Vibe magazine including other magazine from other genres converges with a website to show they are available in other platforms of the media so therefore I have used this idea as well. Other Features : like Vibe magazine the text that are used are all relate back to the genre of the music. To portray this I have included several text e.g. ‘Trey Songz concert’ which is relatable as he is an R&B artist Vibe magazine usually include one image in their front cover.

  6. In most magazines you would find that the contents page is usually at the top of the page, however Vibe magazine do not adhere to this expectations but it still works really well so therefore I thought I would make my magazine original from other music magazine by presenting my content page at the side of my magazine. This should not be a problem as the audience will acknowledge it is a contents page based on the layout Just like Vibe magazine, certain images in my magazines show females with tight clothing with revealing body parts, which therefore implies sexual connotations. These type images will be appropriate to use for my magazine as it is targeting a maturing audience.

  7. My double spread page is consistent with other magazines as it includes a stand first at the beginning of the article • It also includes ‘pull out quote’ from the article to engage the reader, convincing them to read on • Compared to other double spread pages aimed for younger children such as ‘Top of the Pops’ there is more writing which therefore highlights that the magazine is aimed for older audiences.

  8. 6) WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

  9. Bauer Media is one of the largest conglomerate that publish their magazine world wide. The Group offers over 300 magazines in 15 countries, as well as online, TV and radio stations.  Their ideology is to connect audiences with excellent content through their broad multi-touch point brand platforms, whenever and however they want. Since my magazine is based on a niche market we will therefore be known as an independent institution. As an independent institution we will not be gaining a large amount of income so therefore we are likely to use horizontal integration as we need the help of popular of this kind institutions to help distribute the magazine.

  10. Bauer Media also distribute other music magazine such as ‘Q’ magazine (target audience: 20-30 years) and ‘Kerrang’ (target audience: 16-24 years) magazine, which also have similar target audience to Quaver so therefore this is another reason why I have decided to use Bauer’s institution to distribute my magazine
