What CALL means to us Purpose: • Enhance language learning • Motivate language learners by using applications relevant to their interests • Promote confidence with language use • Lower affective filter • Increases interaction in a non-threatening way • Moving beyond the “package” Examples: • Facebook, texting, blogs, Instagram, Skype, Video Games, Youtube, Podcasts, iPhone Apps: Line, WhatsApp

  4. Purpose of the Taipei Blog • Qualitative Data Collection: Lesson Plans, Videos, and Photographs • Blog posts will be used to spread new ideas, share experiences, gain inspiration, promote relationship building, and to support one another professionally • Interaction!!

  13. Your Task Today 1.Create a new post: Self Introduction • Please take your time and answer the following: • Name • Name of your school • Hobbies • What you love about teaching • What you find to be most challenging about teaching 2. Read and comment (“reply”) on two other posts

Example Ideas: • What is an activity that worked well or did not work well? • What cultural knowledge did you gain? • New insights from workshops, teaching experiences, reading, communication with co-teacher/students/parents • Read and comment (reply) on two other posts Remember: the purpose of the blog is to communicate and to share new ideas.
