What is the CACT? • The CACT is: • Self-supporting • Mandated by the Ed Code -- California Education Code Part 52, Section 88500 • Two chancellor’s-office-defined missions: • Work with small and medium-sized manufactures to make them more competitive • Enhance the ability of the collegeto offer hands-ontechnical training FY 05/06 CACT Expenditures to support Academic Programs $103,120

Why is the CACT important in the Inland Empire? • California has more manufacturing jobs than any state in the US • Southern California (6 counties) has more manufacturing jobs than any state in the US • Manufacturing is a source of high-paying jobs • The Inland Empire is adding manufacturing jobs

  13. Creating Jobs -- High-Tech, High-Wage CACTs help small and mid-sized manufacturers with Job retention, Job creation and Business retention. Over 4,600 Jobs where created or saved by CACTs

  16. RCCD Robotics Camp • Funded under NSF grant • 24 students built,programmed andthen competed in arobotics competition Geared towards high school students with the focus to interest them in science, technology, and math
