  8. Coffee Enema • How are they done? • 3-4 cups of organic brewed coffee • Cooled to body temperature • Pour into an enema bag • Lay down (recommended) • Hang bag ~18 inches above body • Open valve till coffee reaches surface

  9. Coffee Enema • Insert applicator into rectum • Open valve to release coffee into colon • Remove enema bag • Retain enema for 10-20 minutes • Rotate frequently

  10. Scientific Evidence • Mouse Trials Objective-To examine the effects of PPE on human xenografts in nude mice Methods- 30 male mice injected with PC tumor cells. 15 Given PPE, 15 nothing. Results-Mice given PPE lived longer (p<.002) Tumors from PPE mice were smaller Negative effects of tumors in control mice earlier and more severe than exp. group

Gemcitabine Compared with Pancreatic Enzyme Therapy Plus Specialized Diet (Gonzalez Regimen) in Treating Patients Who Have Stage II, Stage III, or Stage IV Pancreatic CancerNicholas Gonzalez Clinical Trial • NIH Phase III Clinical Trial • Definition of Phases I, II, III, and IV • Unblinded Intervention Trial • Patients choose either the Nutritional Arm or the Chemotherapy Arm • Chemotherapy Arm includes tx with Gemcitabine. • QOL assessed at 0, 2, 6, and 12 months • Patients “assessed” at 1, 3, 5, 7, and 12 months • QOL and assessment done every year after first 12 months.

  15. Conclusions • Present research shows interesting findings • Too small, no control • 25 eligible patients were not included • Comorbidities, previous tx, “predicted noncompliance” • NIH study should give more insight • Diet? • Coffee enemas have not been shown to improve liver function

  16. Recommendations • Keep your eyes peeled for the NIH study in the next few years
