Campus Technology services • An integrated service organization supporting: • We deliver infrastructure, applications and support services vital to the operation and mission of SUNY Oswego • Administrative computing • Instructional computing • Network services • Technology user support and • Telecommunications

  3. Infrastructure • 300Mbps redundant/diverse Internet connection • SUNY Oswego Intranet • Email and web servers • Approximately 70 other servers supporting other departments and campus applications • Telephone system • Generator and battery back up for emergencies

INTERNET ACCESS…ResNet • ResNet - campus network in the Residence Halls • Each residential room is equipped with a network jack that allows students to connect • Student machines must be up-to-date to access ResNet • Latest security updates • Anti-virus software • Cisco Clean Access product is used for this purpose • McAfee Anti-Virus software is available to all students at no charge

  5. Internet Access…Wireless • Wireless network access is available in most academic and public gathering spaces • Hot spots include: • Penfield Library • Campus Center • The dining halls • Wireless network access spaces are designated by the wireless logo

  6. COMPUTER LABS • Public computer labs are located in Penfield Library, Snygg, Mahar, and Campus Center • Many departments have specialized labs • Computer labs also located in certain residence halls – Hart, Oneida, and Scales

  7. printing • Available in all of the computer labs • Students are allocated a print quota of 500 pages per semester • Additional printing can be purchased • Color printing is available in specific labs • Printing to the public and residential computer lab printers is also available from the residence halls and wireless network

Email • SUNY Oswego email address are provided to all students • Address format: • username@oswego.edu • Required to use many of the technology services on campus • The most common means by which faculty and staff communicate with students • Forwarding service is available to students already using a different email account

  9. myoswego • myOswego is the College portal for “taking care of business”

  10. For the classrooms…ANGEL • ANGEL is the Learning Management System used by SUNY Oswego faculty for posting classroom material online

  11. FOR THE CLASSROOM…ATCs • Advanced Technology Classrooms (ATCs) are equipped with computers and projectors, DVD and VCRs, and document cameras

  12. What’s In a Residence hall Room? • Each room is equipped with the following: • Internet access through ResNet • Land line phone connections • Cable Television

Help • The Technology Support Center (help desk) assists students with technology-related questions • Students are assisted with • General troubleshooting • ResNet • Malware • Students can reach us by: • phone – 312-3456 • Email - help@oswego.edu • online chat - www.oswego.edu/help • in person at 26 Lanigan Hall

Campus emergencies • SUNY Oswego is subscribed to a service called “NY Alert” from the State Emergency Management Office (SEMO) • Students opt-in and specify how they wish to be contacted of campus emergencies • Weather related closures • Other emergencies • SUNY Oswego is continuously working to improve campus safety and security
