RECENT ECCD WG ACTIVITIES • ECCD WG Participation in Day of the African Child Celebration held at Serena under the theme "Accelerating our common efforts for Early Childhood Development” • Various organization's participated in both the exhibition and conference • ECCD WG Meeting on 29th June • Key outcomes: • Finalized TOR for the WG • Communications about available books and other learning materials from ADRA • WG member collaboration to develop a low cost/ no cost learning materials resource book. UmuhuzaOrganisation is leading on putting it together Save the Children Stand at DAC exhibition

RECENT ECCD WG ACTIVITIES • RENCP ECCD WG meeting and Learning Lab to Plan supported ECCD Centre in TundaBugesera on 16th July • Key Learning: • Importance of collaboration with local authorities • Linking ECCD Centre to other activities in the community eg Health, Nutrition so the Centre is a kind of community hub • Thinking of needs of children with Special Needs • Working Closely with the CHW on issues of Health and Nutrition • Some advice for Plan: • Consider providing age appropriate Kinyarwanda books for the children • More outcomes from the visit: • ADRA agreed to give Plan/ the Centre Books in English for using at the Centre • Save the Children agreed to train Caregivers/ Trainers of Caregives on how to use books with young children • Key action points from the meeting and Learning Lab: • Exchange visit to PLAN ECCD work in Bugesera in May 2015 • Next ECCD WG and Learning Lab to be hosted by VSO in June.

  5. UPDATES FROM NATIONAL LEVEL ECCD DEVELOPMENTS • New Radio show for Children aged 0-6 years and their parents to start this September on Radio Rwanda. Some ECCD WG members have volunteered to be part of Content Advisory Group. The initiative is led by UNICEF, Imbuto and MIGEPROF • Activities related to the New Pre-primary curriculum continued with high involvement of ECCD WG Members: Training of DMASTS, Training on Pre- Primary Curriculum Materials • ECD Policy Implementation Plan in Final stages: Members will again be invited to participate in review of the costed strategy and implementations plan
