  2. What’s New? • Britannia is available • Funding picked in July • EBSCOhost purchased NetLibrary • Currently overhauling access

  3. Traveler Online Database Project • Began in 1997 • Multi-type library project • Provides online research databases to all libraries • Paid for by LSTA funds (84%) and ADE (16%) • Approx. $635/library • Individual libraries would have to pay over $100,000 each to duplicate • Over 1200 sites

  4. Have you reregistered? • New school registration began in April 2009 • Three types • Schools with unique IP numbers • School groups that share IPs but are not districts • Actual school districts

Why the changes? • Over 50% of the schools have not updated registration • Any site prompted for an ID and/or password needs to update • Cleaning up the school listings • Wrong IP numbers • Dated contact information • New connections with Gale • Discovering Collection • General OneFile • Preparing for Traveler Portal

New Subscription FY2010/2011 • Begins August 1 • EBSCO renewed with additional databases • OCLC FirstSearch added in 2009 • CAMIO – The Catalog of Art Museum Images Online is a premiere resource of works of art from prominent museums around the world. • Separate log-in – working with OCLC on problems • ArchiveGrid – The ArchiveGrid service provides access to nearly a million detailed archival collection descriptions from around the world. • Separate log-in -- working with OCLC on problems • OAIster - OAIster is a union catalog of over 19,000,000 records representing digital resources from 1,049 contributors. • Integrated into WorldCat • ContentDM entry level software

What’s on the new School form? • New name categories • Individual School example: school does not have the same IP number(s) as any other school in the school district)  Example: Pine Bluff High School • School Group example: A group of schools sharing IP numbers, but not with all the schools in the school district, such as Emmet Schools (includes elementary and high school) part of Blevins School District • School District example: every schools in the district shares the IP number range, such as Valley Springs School District-- includes Valley Spring Elementary School, Valley Springs Middle School and Valley Springs High School • LEA numbers • IT contacts

Flyer and Table Tent text • Traveler searches provide . . . • ◊ Thousands of licensed resources from known sources • Boy’s Life / Business Week / Christian Science Monitor / Cobblestone / Encyclopædia Britannica / • Men’s Health / New Book of Knowledge / New York Times / Prevention / Ride BMX / Outdoor Life • for Kids / Time / US News & World Report • ◊ No ads—No spam or spyware—No “phishing” for personal data. • ◊ Safe resources for students of all ages with easy access for younger students • ◊ Users can save, print and e-mail search results with current citation formats • ◊ Lexiles Reading Levels help identify materials for specific ages and/or reading levels • Google and Yahoo searches • ◊ anything that is on the Internet • ◊ computer selection of pages at random according to keywords • ◊ place some results higher because a fee was paid • ◊ do not investigate where the information came from or accuracy • ◊ provide a mixture of personal web pages & authoritative studies

Portal? • Simplified access from library as well as remote access • One access point • Authentication from each site • College ID • Public library cards • School LEA numbers • Update immediately through a computer • The Network Advisory Committee is currently reviewing the response to the RFI
