What we have learned yesterday • Recap of Day I by Vietnam group. • Presentation of Main Products of each province. • KK: garment from cotton, souvenir from cocoon, Pla Chiang , etc. • Myawadee: corn • Mawlamyine: Rubber, Beans& Pulses, Betal nuts, Durian, Pamelo, cashew Nut • Vietnam (Quang Tri) : Ground peanut ( salted peanut pdts, dried , powder-rolled, coconut milk mix, coffee-rolled peanut

Enhancing Provincial & Local CCIs & BAs Capacities in Trade and Investment Facilitation along East-West Economic Corridor • Target group: Staffs & Executives from CCIs, BAs, Trade Promotion Organizations (public & Private) • 11 provinces of 4 countries along EWEC • Survey done : 22 organizations • Goal: Increase Trade & Investment on EWEC • Outcome : Improved Capacity of CCI & Bas in targeted provinces in promoting intra, inter, and cross-border trade & investment

Enhancing Provincial & Local CCIs & BAs Capacities in Trade and Investment Facilitation along East-West Economic Corridor • Outputs: • Improved cooperation between CCIs/ BAs & provincial authorities in promoting trade and investment • Capable CCIs key personnel • Provincial business Profile and Trade & Investment Database are developed, maintained and utilized

Priority sector identification for provincial business profile – listing key information • Steps towards the Right Product-Market matrix • Identify HS Code of your commodities • Trend Analysis of Exports of your HS code • Do I have the comparative advantage ? • Trend analysis of Major Export targets • Who are my competitors in target markets • Do I have the competitive advantage ? • Checking on Trade Complementarily of target markets • Decision Making tools in WTOS Era.

Geographical Identification : GI • Make yourselves Unique by GI • Register GI for 2% premium price from international market • HW: find products in your province that have registered GI • We should develop unique product characteristic and find consumer demands in order to make matching • Thailand: www.ipthailand.go.th

  11. What makes all the difference? • Consumer Demand (Current & Past) • Which market is accepting my product ? • In which form are they accepting? • What niche does my product have? • Seasonal variation amongst same products in EWEC

  12. Summary • Identification of commodities produced in respective province • Define your product : quality, use, uniqueness • What is the consumption pattern? • How many SMEs in your province depending on this commodity? • What is the foreign exchange earning from this sector?

  13. Summary • Major markets where they are exported • In which commodity is your share in total imports in tarket destination high? • In which commodity the consumption pattern in these countries shifting in favour of your commodities?
