  1. Proverbs 1:8-10 • Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching, • for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. • My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

  3. Listen To Instruction (1:8-9) • Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching, • for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. • Hear = Heed Father’s instruction mother’s teaching • Wear them – adorn yourself with knowledge

  4. Check The Inviter & Read The Invitation (1:10-12) • My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent. • If they say, "Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason; like Sheol let us swallow them alive, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; • Consider Them - Sinner’s don’t honor God • Choose God – Do Not Consent • Choose Life – Let us lie in wait for blood • Follow Jesus – help people don’t hurt them

Listen To The Proper Attitude About Money (1:13-14) • we shall find all precious goods, we shall fill our houses with plunder; throw in your lot among us; we will all have one purse" • Money is to be earned through industry • It is not to be stolen • People are not to be robbed • Do not throw your purse in with them • You will become who you run with

If You Go With Them You Will Hurt Yourself (1:15-19) • my son, do not walk in the way with them; hold back your foot from their paths, for their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed blood. For in vain is a net spread in the sight of any bird, but these men lie in wait for their own blood; they set an ambush for their own lives. Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for unjust gain; it takes away the life of its possessors. • They spread a trap for themselves • They ambush their own lives • They are in jail or dead (1 Timothy 6:6-10)

  7. Son Don’t Take Your Associations Lightly • Scrutinize Them – if sinners entice you • Deeply consider what they are asking you to do • Let us lie in wait for blood • Let us rob, steal, and kill people • Cast in your lot with us we will all have one purse • Son do not go with them • They are going to destroy their own lives. • They will destroy yours if you are with them. • They – you will end up in jail or dead and lost!
