1. Chief “Fiction” • There’s a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of Charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness. For they are truly their Brother and Sister’s keeper in the Chief’s Mess, and the provider for the Fragile lot of Junior Officers and the Sheppard for the Blueshirt. BUT I WILL STRIKE DOWN UPON THEE WITH GREAT VENGEANCE AND A FURIOUS ANGER, the E-7’s who attempt to poison and destroy my Mess! AND YOU WILL KNOW I AM THE CHIEF WHEN I LAY MY VENGEANCE UPON YOU! • I been sayin’ that for 114 years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I just thought it was a cold-blooded thing to say to a Selectee before you would show the Selectee the difference between a Chief and an E-7. But I saw some shit the past 8 weeks that made me think twice. Now I’m thinking: it could mean that you’re the E-7? • Because I AM GOD; I AM THE CHIEF; I WALK ON WATER! And the GOLD FOULED ANCHOR, he’s the Sheppard protecting my righteous ass in the Valley of Darkness. • Or Could it be that you’re the Chief along side me, and the rest of the Navy is a bunch of E-7’s, or knuckle-headed blueshirts, or a fragile lot of Junior Officers? I’d like that. It gives me something to do and to accomplish. But that shit ain’t the truth! The truth is, you’re weak. And I AM the tyranny of the E-7. But I’m tryin’ Selectee. I’m tryin’ real hard to be the tyranny of the E-7. I AM THE CHIEF, AND I WILL SHOW YOU THE WAY! • Will you see it, listen, lead, and be liable? The Gospel of Mark says: “Let he who would be Chief among you first be the Servant.” But this I tell you: CONTINUE TO SERVE! How will you serve my Navy?
