  6. Extra-terrestrial life Many scientist believe that aliens life exists somewhere in the Universe. The study of alien life is called astrobiology. • Their arguments include: • The universe so large that there may be other planets that have the right conditions to support life. • There is already evidence of fossilized life forms on meteors that have landed on Earth.

  7. Drake Equation In 1961, Dr Frank Drake calculated the possibility of life on other planets • Earth is in a galaxy called the milky way • There are over 125 billion galaxies in the universe that have planets. • Even if there are only 10% of those planets support life there are 6.25 billion planets that could have Alien life.

  8. Conditions for Life • Carbon • Oxygen • Nucleic acid (DNA) • Energy (Sun)

  9. Habitable Zone GoldilocksZone: The planet has to be the right distance from the star (sun) so it's not too hot and not too cold that liquid water can exist and sustain an atmosphere.

  10. Evidence for aliens • Crop circles? • Ancient civilizations, mythology etc. • Area 51
