  9. Goals of the Rezoning Committee • To relieve the overcrowding of Westergard ES through realignment of current student zoning boundaries to accommodate current enrollment and future growth • To develop a zoning plan that factors in proposed growth so that the zoning in the region can remain in effect for a minimum of five (5) years.

Board Policy 7083Rezoning Process Considerations • The proximity of students to an individual school • Safety of students • The impact student demographic changes will have on existing educational programs within each school affected • Transportation issues • Growth impact, as determined by the number and location of approved but un-built subdivisions • Capacity and enrollment of the school to be optimized and the schools to be affected by the optimization process

Northwest Rezoning Process Schedule • January 29 - 1st committee meeting; orientation process and springboard presentation • February 5, 12, and 19- committee meetings to develop draft final of the rezoning plan (as needed) • February 26 -final committee meeting for approval of recommended rezone plan to take to the Board (if needed) • March 3 – March 6 - individual school parent meetings to present recommended plan • Tentative Schedule, all meetings at 6:00 p.m. • Verdi – March 4 • Westergard – March 5 • Melton – March 6 • March 11 -Recommended rezoning plan presented to the Board as a Information Item • March 25 -Board approval of the rezoning plan (This may change to April 8) • NOTE: The number of committee meeting dates is subject to change based upon the actual time necessary to develop the recommended rezoning plan
