  2. Are you sometimes sad and don’t know why? Am I Depressed? • Do you sometimes feel so angry that you may explode? If you are depressed you can get help. There is always a positive way out. Keep in mind, depression is an illness. • Do you feel alone?

  3. Other Signs of Depression • Sadness • Decrease of energy • Loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyed •  weight gain • Feelings of hopelessness • Thoughts of death or suicide • Restlessness 

  4. Is Depression Something To Be Ashamed Of? Depression is an illness. With help, you can control it. Some people suffer worse cases of depression that may lead to suicide. These are people that do not get help. Don’t be one of those people.

  11. Self-Injury • Self-injury is the voluntary physical abuse or mutilation of oneself • The damage can be permanent • Stereotypical self-abuse includes biting and banging heads, burning, cutting, or pulling hair

  13. Facts • Self injury is a physical manifestation of anger, hurt, neglect, or abuse • There is a risk of infection when cuts are untreated • Scars from cutting are most likely permanent

  14. Statistics • Self-injury is not something people talk about very often. For an estimated 2 to 3 million Americans, it is a serious problem. • The relationship of self-mutilation to suicide is still debated even though statistics show that nearly 50% of individuals who injure themselves also attempt suicide at some point in their lives.
