Coachella Valley Unified School District Local Assessments

The Coachella Benchmark Assessments provide a comprehensive and rigorous assessment tool for students in grades 3-12. These assessments are designed to measure student performance in relation to state-determined grade-level expectations, helping educators identify areas of need and track progress towards proficiency. The assessments are completely auto-scored, saving teachers time and effort. Additionally, the Acuity and NWEA benchmark assessments offer instructional resources and reports to support data-driven school management and personalized learning plans.

Acuity ELA and Math Coachella Benchmark Assessments • Administered 3 times per year to all grades 3-6 students • Form A & Form B will contain items measuring both below grade and on grade standards • Form C is all on grade level • Forms are designed to accurately measure what students know. Measures student performance in relation to summative expectations. Educators can see the extent to which students are progressing toward proficiency on state-determined grade level expectations. • Completely Auto-Scored to save teachers time and effort! • Rigorous Items: TEI allows educators to measure skills that are difficult to assess with traditional multiple choice items. • Balanced Data: Allows educators to quickly identify areas of critical need, create instructional groups, assign instructional resources and initiate interventions as needed.

Acuity ELA and Math Coachella Benchmark Assessments • Roster Report: Provides a snapshot of achievement and completion status for a list of students, classes or schools. • Assessment Report: Provides actionable data regarding achievement relative to standards. • Item Analysis Report: Includes Distractor Rationale Report thatprovides item level data about students to help identify and understand misconceptions. • Matrix Report: Provides detailed performance information for each student and item on an assessment in a spreadsheet format.

NWEA ELA & Math Benchmark Assessments • Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) ELA and Math • Required Grade 7-8 Coachella Benchmark • Selected Grade 9 Personalized Learning Plan Teachers • MAP is computer adaptive interim assessments that provide a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level • By adjusting the difficulty of items up or down, MAP precisely measures every student’s achievement as well as growth over time • Educators can use data to inform instruction using valid, reliable and real-time data • Accommodations: keyboard navigation, color contrast*, magnification*, highlighter and calculators*

How are assessments being used? • Teachers • Challenges • Principals obtain subs for teachers to plan by grade level and department team meetings. • Teachers work together to develop plan of action and address specific standards for re-teaching and evaluating student learning • Creative schedules: finding time during the day to meet all the needs of the students(Data Team)
