  3. Roles of the UI Ombuds Office • Source of assistance • Confidential resource • Operates outside of the normal chain of command • Helps to find solutions to problems that meet the needs of the visitor and the parent organization • TOA

  4. Code of Ethics of the IOA • Independence • The ombuds is independent in structure and function • Neutrality and Impartiality • The ombuds remains unaligned and impartial

  5. Code of Ethics of the IOA, continued • Confidentiality • The ombuds holds all communications in strict confidence and does not disclose confidential information unless given permission to do so • Informality • The ombuds does not participate in any formal procedure
