  2. I. INTRODUCTION Understanding Animation The display of a sequence of images, or an animation, creates the illusion of movement. Using Photoshop, you can turn your images into animations. Creating Animation on the Animation Panel A series of still images is displayed rapidly to give the illusion of motion in an animation. A thumbnail of the animation image appears in each frame of the Animation panel.

  3. Animating Images You can see that there are two layers in the Layers panel in the Figure below. Each layer has its own frame in the Animation panel. Converting Animation Frames to a Timeline It displays frames by default, but you can switch to a timeline by changing the panel. Changing the animation display is as simple as clicking the Convert to timeline animation button in the lower-right corner of the Animation (Frames) panel.
