  1. Goal Teams What we learn today does not make yesterday wrong but tomorrow better!

  2. District Direction • All schools in the district have been asked to focus their SIP goals to 1-3 academic goals only. • This district-wide change is to reflect a concentrated focus on academics.

  3. Imagine the Headlines “Brawley Middle School, a Blue Ribbon school, doesn’t make AYP!”

  4. Refocus Our Goals • We are still learning, and we have learned some information recently that we think may help to simplify and streamline our SIP Goal Teams.

  5. What academic issues or student groups should we focus on RIGHT NOW? • What direction(s) do we need to move in as a faculty to better meet the needs of all our students?

  6. Differences • Climate Goals can be monitored through a PDSA process that is submitted/shared with administration and faculty. • Academic Goals require paperwork associated with the SIP that is shared with the district.

  7. We want to avoid… • Disbanding Goal Teams across the board • Creating situations where staff have to attend “double” meetings for the sake of paperwork • Allowing any staff member to not serve on a Goal team

  8. 9 groups(?) • Climate = 33 members • Parent = 14 • Student = 10 • Staff = 9 • Reading Overall = 18 • EC subgroup • AIG subgroup • Math Overall = 12 • EC subgroup • AIG subgroup

  9. Suggestions • Take 6 off of wheel • 3 go with Reading AIG • 3 go with Reading EC • Take 3 off of social studies • All go to Math AIG • Take 3 off of science • All go to Math EC

  10. Possible Roles/Ways to Serve • “Data” provider to a team or chair • Communicator (to other teams/admin.) • What other position would help your team/take something “off of your plate?”
