  2. 3.1 Classroom Exercises 1

  3. 1 This is a bad diagram because corresponding angles are only important when you have parallel lines. Let’s adjust the picture.

  4. 1a Name 4 pairs of corresponding angles. Upper left hand corners. Upper right hand corners. Lower left hand corners. Think of same step on a ladder. Lower right hand corners.

  5. 1b Name 2 pairs of Alternate interior angles. Note the Z points the way.

  6. 1b Name 2 pairs of Alternate interior angles. Note the Z points the way. Noted it is dyslexic.

  7. 1c Name 2 pairs of same-side interior angles.

  8. 1c Name 2 pairs of same-side interior angles.

  9. 1d Name 2 pairs of Alternate exterior angles.

  10. 1e Name 2 pairs of same-side exterior angles.

  11. 2 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. Same-side interior angles C points the way.

  12. 3 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. corresponding angles Same Ladder Position

  13. 4 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. None. Note 4 lines not 3 lines are involved.

  14. 5 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. Alternate Interior angles AIA Note the Z points the way.

  15. 6 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. None. Note 4 lines not 3 lines are involved.

  16. 7 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. Corresponding angles Same Ladder Position

  17. 8 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. Same-side interior angles C points the way.

  18. 9 Classify each pair of angles as either corresponding angles alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, Same-side interior angles, Same-side exterior angles, None of these. Alternate interior angles AIA Note the Z points the way.

  19. 10a Classify each pair of lines as intersecting, parallel, or skew. Parallel

  20. 10b Classify each pair of lines as intersecting, parallel, or skew. Parallel

  21. 10c Classify each pair of lines as intersecting, parallel, or skew. Skew

  22. 10d Classify each pair of lines as intersecting, parallel, or skew. Intersecting Note that they are in the same plane.

  23. 10e Classify each pair of lines as intersecting, parallel, or skew. Skew

  24. 10f Classify each pair of lines as intersecting, parallel, or skew. Skew

  25. Name 6 lines // to 11

  26. Name several lines skew to 12

  27. Name 5 lines // to ABCD 13

  28. Name coplanar segments that do not intersect and yet are not parallel. 14

  29. Complete each statement with the word… always, sometimes or never never 15 Two skew lines are _________ parallel. Skew lines are non-coplanar while parallel lines are coplanar. 16 always Two parallel lines are _________ coplanar. It is a requirement of definitions.

  30. Complete each statement with the word… always, sometimes or never 17 A line in the plane of the ceiling and a line in the floor are ____________ parallel. sometimes Skew Parallel
