Proposal for Student Reassignment: Fort Eustis Students to General Stanford Elementary

This proposal outlines the reassignment of students from Fort Eustis housing areas to General Stanford Elementary for the 2008-2009 school year. Due to the rezoning of Fort Eustis North Village, which added 294 housing units and an estimated 225 new students, Greenwood and Epes Elementary schools are facing capacity challenges. With current enrollments at Greenwood (710), Epes (526), and General Stanford (490), this reassignment is essential to balance student populations.   3. Current Enrollment 2007-2008 • Enrollment • Greenwood – 710 (112 from North Village) • Epes – 526 (13 from North Village) • General Stanford – 490 (102 from North Village) • Student numbers from other Fort Eustis housing areas dropped (Thompson Circle; – 47 Students)

  4. 2008-2009 Proposal • Reassign Fort Eustis students at Greenwood and Epes to General Stanford • Capacity at General Stanford - 670 • Fort Eustis housing demolition winter of 2009 • Fort Eustis elementary student population will be zoned entirely for General Stanford as originally planned
