Understand The Concept of Radius

In order to authenticate dial-in users and grant them access to the required system or service, remote access servers can communicate with a central server using the client-server protocol and software known as RADIUS Server (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service).<br>

  2. Understand The Concept of Radius The Radius network security system is a secure protocol that was originally invented for the unauthenticated remote users to a dial-in access server. This security system is used in a wide range of authentication scenarios. Also, it is a client-side server protocol that works with the Firebox as the client and the Radius server as the business secure server.

  3. Example of RADIUS Used in an Office Router and a Data Center Router The standard specification of the RADIUS mechanism is the ITU-T X.509 Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) Certificate Authority (CRL) Profile defined in RFC 5280, titled “Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Certificate and Certificate Revocation List (CRL) Profile”. This protocol specifies a number of attributes of the basic objects for an X.509 certificate and an X.509 CRL certificate, i.e. an X.509 object as defined in the X.509 standard, and the extensions that can be included. The protocol definition is organized in two parts: in the first one, a number of protocol fields are defined; in the second part, a set of profiles of attributes and objects are defined.

  4. How does 802.1x wi-fi authentication work with Radius? Everyone knows that the RADIUS security system was firstly introduced to work with the dial-in authentication networks. On the other hand, the majority of the staff that you are connecting with their security system to the network via ethernet cables to a Local Area Network (LAN) or Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). There are some important 802.1x wi-fi authentication connections such as: 1. Supplicant 2. Authenticator 3. Authentication Server
