I AM… A landowner/land manager: Private, State, and Federal lands How to Implement Cooperative MonitoringFlow Chart INITIATE A CONVERSATION Either party can initiate a conversation as to the goals and objectives of an identified area/natural resource. Open lines ofcontinuouscommunication is a core component of successful cooperative monitoring. If a landowner/land manger deals with more than one agency, it is recommend that a collaborative approach and is taken by inviting all interested parties to initial and future conversations. CONVERSATION FACT FINDING 1. Asses the level and type of monitoring occurring on the land 2. Determine monitoring enhancements (i.e. implementation of a program, data collection and storage, data interpretation, cooperative monitoring approach, return on cooperative monitoring investment for both the agency and landowner/land manager) LIMITED TO NO COOPERATIVE MONITORING OCCURS COOPERATIVE MONITORING OCCURS Take cooperative monitoring to the next level through the CRMI program and process by: • Recording data in a readily available format • Obtaining access to value added monitoring benefits • Engage in an agency accepted program Begin the cooperative monitoring process by enrolling in an Introductory CRMI Workshop to: • Familiarize yourself with monitoring basics and CRMI • Explore the importance of monitoring to the natural resource and your operation • Learn how to get started and implement the CRMI program An agency representative: BLM, CDOW, NRCS, SLB, etc. ENROLL IN THE CRMI ASSURANCE PACKAGE Contact the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association crmi@coloradocattle.org – (303) 431-6422 • Involved in a program with broad agency support that is backed by an MOU • Both parties shall agree to the methods for collecting data prior to implementing a monitoring plan • The methods to be considered will based on approved agency or organization protocols • Access to the CRMI Database where data is recorded and stored • Landowners/ land managers may seek assistance from other individuals or institutions in collecting monitoring data • Enhancement and continuation of cooperative monitoring and ongoing relationships through joint site visits
