  4. Why stay local? • Loss of sovereignty • Loss of national/state identity • Limited say in over all policy making • …just go ask the nations fighting for devolution.

  5. $$$$Why go supra?$$$$ • Economic advantages • Favorable trade • Reduce trade barriers • Example: European Union • Military/Political advantages • More people, weapons, money, etc. • Unity brings strength • Example NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization)

  6. United Nations • Stemmed out of League of Nations • Most inclusive • Unable to make or enforce a world law • May collectively decide on sanctions • Collectively discuss political and economic concerns
