Everything is so well-designed, little or no explanation is needed. The most important fact that the use of the Interactive whiteboard Software do save teachers enormous amounts of time.

  23. Challenge The Use of ICT in Primary Education for Teaching and Learning of Foreign Languages(Our choices ???)

Teacher Education for Primary School Level: • At the primary level students are taught by subject-teachers (specialistswith a university degree in foreign languages) • Teachers who have taken special re-qualification courses in languages. Re-qualification programmes end with examinations, and teachers get diplomas which allow them to teach each up to grade 10. • Trained primary school teachers, who are very often the class teachers (they are not university-trained foreign language specialists) Problem: The schortage of qualified teachers for all foreign languages.

In – Service Teacher Training The Ministry of Education and Science, Education Development Centre (EDC) organizes in-service teacher training, very often together with the universities and various professional institutions. The most common forms of in-service teacher training are seminars and meetings. They can last from one up to six days and teachers get certificates of attendance. Language Centres all over Lithuania offer in-service training. Pre-service teacher training for primary school teachers in Lithuania is offered at Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences.

  26. Conclusions: 1. Due to the changed political situation and openness of the world, the motivation to learn foreign languages is high in Lithuania. Children are getting opportunities to develop their competence in other languages. 2. While Lithuania still faces challenges in this area, some important steps have already been accomplished. 3. Early Foreign language teaching in Primary schools was introduced and implemented.

  27. Conclusions: 4. Teacher education seems to be one of the cornerstones of early language programmes. 5. Early foreign languages teachers have to set realistic aims, apply relevant classroom techniques, to make use of good teaching materials and create good learning environments. 6. Meanwhile teachers must be provided with opportunities to work innovatively using modern education technology: faster internet, intranet, interactive whiteboards, computers, modern classrooms and classroom equipment and libraries.
