Distribution of GPS Satellite NOTAM’s • GPS Satellite Outages are Sent from the GPS Master Control Station at Schriever AFB to the U.S. NOTAM Office (Herndon, VA) • Minimum of 48 Hour Notification for Scheduled GPS SV Outages (1 Week Notice Generally Given) • Unscheduled Outages Distributed Within 30 Minutes • GPS SV Outages Distributed Domestically Under the KGPS Identifier and International GPS SV NOTAM's Distributed Under the KNMH Identifier • U.S. NOTAM Office Sends Confirmation of Receipt of SV Outage Information Back to GPS Master Control Station With NOTAM Number

Distribution of GPS Satellite NOTAM's (Cont.) • Countries Not Receiving GPS SV NOTAM's Need to Submit Request for KNMH NOTAM's to U.S. NOTAM Office and Provide AFTN Address • KNMH Identifier Also Used for Loran and Omega (Before it was Decommissioned) • Cuba Receives KNMH NOTAM's AFTN=MUHAYNYX

  5. Example -- GPS Outage NOTAM • PAZA ANCHORAGE • 04/036 - GPS UNRELIABLE WITHIN A 310 NM RADIUS OF THE BIG DELTA VORTAC (BIG, 640026N/1454303W) AT FL400. THIS AREA DECREASES WITH ALTITUDE TO A CIRCLE OF RADIUS 260 NM AT FL250; THEN TO A CIRCLE OF RADIUS 190 NM AT FL100; DOWN TO A CIRCLE OF RADIUS 155 NM AT 4,000 FT AGL 2000-2230 DLY 23 APR 20:00 UNTIL 26 APR 22:30 • IFR OPERATIONS BASED ON GPS NAVIGATION SHOULD NOT BE PLANNED IN THE AFFECTED AREAS DURING THE PERIODS INDICATED. THESE OPERATIONS INCLUDE DOMESTIC RNAV OR LONG-RANGE NAVIGATION REQUIRING GPS. THESE OPERATIONS ALSO INCLUDE GPS STANDALONE AND OVERLAY INSTRUMENT APPROACH OPERATIONS.
