Mental health services in the Vale of York • The CCG identified mental health services as one of it’s eight strategic initiatives in it’s Integrated Operational Plan 2014 – 2019 • Services for people who need mental health support should be in line with best practice • We are clear that a clinical model, based on the principles of therapeutic care whilst meeting the needs of what the local community has said it wants, is delivered in an environment that is fit for purpose

  3. What will be in the new hospital? Adult and older people’s inpatient services together under one roof Base for the crisis and intensive home treatment team and the care home liaison team Section 136 assessment suite

  4. What did we ask people? About the proposed number and configuration of beds About the potential sites and preferred location for a new hospital Duty to consult on issues of service change under the Health and Social Care Act 2012 (section 14Z2)

Proposed sites Bootham Park Hospital had the most support with 49.32% of respondents (181 people) preferring this option Haxby Road site was the next most popular with 31.88% of respondents (117 people) preferring this location Clifton Park was the least popular with 18.80% of respondents (69 people) showing a preference for this site Haxby Road Clifton Bootham Park

Next Steps • February 2017 - Governing Body consideration of recommendations • March 2017 - Development of detailed option appraisal • April 2017 - Progression of Business Case (two stage process) • January 2018 - Confirmation of final site and detailed design • December 2019 - Completion of build Underpinned by NHS England assurance framework for strategic service change

Our Goal • We want to improve resources for patients and their families and provide care to meet a wide range of needs and circumstances. • It matters that with partners, service users and their carers, the best possible solution is created collaboratively. • Our goal is to achieve a fundamental improvement in the quality and sustainability of mental health services.
