  1. Popular Travel Mistakes Every Solo Traveller Should Avoid #1 Not travelling at all : I have met so many people, especially young women who have been intimidated by the idea of travelling, but once they got out of their comfort zone and overcame those fears. They were rewarded with some of the most amazing experiences you can have in. You don’t need anyone’s permission to have a good time and to see the world. Travelling alone is just a taste of pure freedom.

  2. #2 Never leave your home without your common sense : It is going to take time and repetition to build confidence more and more and I do believe that there is so much good than bad. But predators are lurking to take advantage of vulnerable looking people so the best thing you can learn to do is not to be a target of this. When it comes down to common sense trusting your intuition because everything you need to travel solo is within you, it is just about learning through different experiences.

  3. #3 Don’t wander around by yourself at night. : I have two golden rules for travel that has kept me safe while travelling to every country in the world. Arriving at a new place whether you are taking a flight or a bus or a train can be stressful enough as it is trying to exchange a currency and find a taxi and you know, get to your accommodation and get a feel for the new surroundings. I have been in a bunch of uncomfortable places at night, just remember never owe anyone who makes you uncomfortable an explanation when you are travelling alone. You need to be in complete control of what you are doing and where you are going.

  4. #4 Don’t get intoxicated when you are travelling alone : This again goes back to common sense, you need to know your limits and if you decide that you want to go get a drink with one or two people that you met at a hostel. Just watch your drinks and keep track of how many and how frequently you are drinking. Remember to stay in control of your physical body. Since alcohol is pretty expensive, if you are travelling on a budget you might as well avoid that expense.

  5. #5 Another mistake to avoid is not showing up in a new country and expecting everything to just figure itself out. : I have so many friends, especially male travellers who just go to a new place without any plans and just go with the flow. If that’s your style of travel and you are confident go for it. I’m the exact opposite, the adventures I go on don’t just happen, it takes hours and hours of researching, networking with locals or touwaste r operators. That work in advance does the heavy lifting to keep me safe and also not extra time and money.
