  1. Bridge Project Research A Strategy for Success!

  2. In the Beginning: Start with a general reliable resource. (Category 1)

  3. According to Dr. Fred F. Videon, professor emeritus, department of civil engineering and engineering mechanics, Montana State University, the truss bridge is based on triangles. The first truss bridges were built around 1500. Modern trusses, often constructed of steel, form a series of interlocking triangles which support the roadway or deck which is located on top of the trusses.

  4. Research your bridge (Category 2)

  5. According to Wai-yee Chan, King-yeung Man and Kai-yeun Wong in their article in GPS World cable support bridges are designed to move slightly, from a couple centimeters to meters, in various weather conditions. The engineers of the Tsing Ma Bridge in Hong Kong built in real time GPS motion sensors to detect, monitor and record the amount of motion in the bridge. This valuable information helps them decide when and where the bridge needs maintenance. Sample researched fact

  6. Specific current research (Category 3)

  11. Who wrote the page? • Look for names or e-mail links • Look for authors credentials • “about” section • “my philosophy” • Background • Biography
