WHY is bonding easier for some than others???. To answer this we have to think about the VALENCE ELECTRONS !!! The LESS electrons an atom needs to gain, lose, or share to have a full outer ring, the EASIER it is for that atom to bond !!!. WHY is bonding easier for some than others???.

  2. WHY is bonding easier for some than others??? What TWO groups on the periodic table will share or transfer electrons the easiest??? (i.e. be most likely to form bonds?) ANSWER: Groups 1 and 17 b/c group 1 only needs to get rid of or share 1e- and group 17 only needs to gain or share 1e-.

  3. WHY is bonding easier for some than others??? Is an element in Group 13 more likely to bond than an element in Group 16? EXPLAIN… ANSWER: No, b/c the element in Group 16 only needs to gain or share 2e-, but the element in Group 13 needs to lose or share 3e-.

  4. Why do atoms in Group 18 (noble gases) not bond or react??? The atoms in this group (column) have a full valence electron ring… They do not need to gain, lose, or share electrons to be full!!!
