  2. Argument • The 5 elements of argument are • Hook • Claim • Support (reasons and evidence) • Counterclaims (concessions and refutations) • Concluding Statement

  3. Identify the 5 elements of argument in “An Indian Father’s Plea.”

  4. Notes • Get out the notes you’ve gathered for EA 2. • Looking over and thinking about all of the things we’ve read, decide on your stance. • Generate a thesis/claim you may use in your essay. • Now, decide whether or not you need more information to support. If you do, look over the first half of unit one and decide which sources will best help you. • Also, take notes over your personal examples and insights to help support your claim. • Organize/outline your ideas so that you’re prepared to write your essay next class.
