CSC Digi & RecHit Validation

This report provides an update on the CSC digitization process, including new features such as neutron background and simplified strip timing. Validation results for occupancy, amplitude, timing, pedestals & noise, resolution, and segments are also presented. A comparison with CMSSW versions 1_1_0 and 1_3_0_pre1 is included, along with conclusions and the need for integration with SVSuite.

  1. CSC Digi & RecHit Validation Rick Wilkinson

  2. CSC Digitization Status • No changes from CMSSW 1_0_0 to 1_3_0. • LOTS of new features ready for 1_4_0: • Neutron Background • Correlated Noise • Simplified strip timing • Realistic strip readout • Old code only saved ~6 strips around a hit • Now Front End Boards (CFEBs) read 16 strips at a time • Relevant to DAQ studies • New comparator timing Rick Wilkinson

  3. CSC Digi & RecHit Validation DIGIS • Occupancy • Amplitude • Timing • Pedestals & Noise • Resolution • Layers with one SimHit • REC HITS • Occupancy • Resolution • Pulls • SEGMENTS • Nothing, yet Rick Wilkinson

  4. Comparisons • CMSSW 1_1_0 and 1_3_0_pre1 are identical • In the following plots, we compare to development version, meant for 1_4_0. • RED means REFERENCE (1_2_0_pre9) • BLUE means NEW (development) • If there are nine plots, it’s one for each chamber type Rick Wilkinson

  5. Strip Digis: Timing • Want to tune timing so the peak is in time bin 5 • Plot ratios of bin4/bin5 and bin6/5 OLD: Signal too late. Too much in bin 6 NEW: Now a little too much in bin 4 Rick Wilkinson

  6. Strip Digis: Occupancy OLD: ~6 strips around a hit NEW: All 16 strips in Cathode Front End Board (CFEB) Rick Wilkinson

  7. Wire Digis: Timing Acceptable, but some chambers showing up late Rick Wilkinson

  8. Rec Hits: Resolution • Layers with one SimHit • Plot r df • Resolutions look fine • Expect 100-300 mm Rick Wilkinson

  9. Conclusion • CSCs have a validation system now for digis & rec hits • Can do Chi2 tests, make plots. • Things look fine for 1_3_0 • Differences with development (1_4_0) expected and seen. • Need to integrate with SVSuite! Rick Wilkinson
