  3. Lyrics

  4. Claude “Leon” Russell Bridges Though he lacks a clean voice he is able to get the message across through the beauty of his words. As it states in the melody “But now I’m so much better, and if my words don’t come together. Listen to the melody cause my love is in there hiding”.

  5. Doc Severinsen Doc plays a good portrayal of Leons “A Song For You” by adding more beauty through the tone quality of his horn. He Later when reaching that point in the lyrics plays all the way up to a double G letting people know that this is the climax of the piece as shown in the image.

  6. My Feelings about “A Song For You” I first learned about this piece my sophomore year of high school during an evening lesson. There was a portrait of the trumpet transcription and was signed by Doc Severinsen. This was his prized possession and his goal to one day perform this piece. After listening to this song about a million times… As my teacher would always say “You know Armando, I live vicariously through you”. At that time I had no idea what he meant. I later began to understand why this was so important to him. It was a dream I wanted him to succeed and as his “top” student I wanted to be next in line to achieve such a goal.
