  1. The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price Matthew 13:45-46

  2. The Details of the Parable A merchant is seeking beautiful pearls. He finds one pearl of great price. Undeterred by its price, he sells all that he has and buys it.

  3. The Meaning of the Parable • The use of the word "Again" ties this parable to the preceding one. • Where the value and preciousness of the kingdom was being described • Where we saw the value to one who accidentally finds it • But in this parable, the person is on a mission to find that which is of great value • He believes there is something out there worth looking for, or he would not be seeking it. • When he finds it, he immediately recognizes its value and is willing to sell all to obtain it.

  4. The Parable Does Not Mean v. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. • We can buy or earn salvation. • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. • Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

  5. We Must Obey God. Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

  6. The Meaning of the Parable This parable, then, describes how some people react to the kingdom of heaven, when they know there must be something out there worthy of great value and have been searching for it

  7. Some Examples Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,    For they shall be filled. Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. The Ethiopian Eunuch – Acts 8:26-38 Cornelius – Acts 10:1-8, 30-33 Lydia – Acts 16:11-15

  8. Let Us Actively Seek: Like the Eunuch – Acts 8:27-28 Like the Bereans – Acts 17:10-11

  9. We’ll be blessed in this life and the next! Mark 10:28-30 Then Peter began to say to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You.” 29 So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,30 who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.

  10. Be Saved Tonight! Believe – John 8:24 Confess – Matthew 10:32-33 Repent – Luke 13:3 Be Baptized – Mark 16:16 Be Faithful – Revelation 2:10
