  1. 62The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate.63“Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ Matthew 27:62-28:7

  2. 64So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.” Matthew 27:62-28:7

  3. Matthew 27:62-28:7 65“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” 66So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

  4. 1After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. Matthew 27:62-28:7

  5. 2There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. Matthew 27:62-28:7

  6. Matthew 27:62-28:7 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

  7. Matthew 27:62-28:7 5The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

  8. Matthew 27:62-28:7 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

  9. Clearly Farsighted April 8, 2012

  10. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.(II Timothy 4:7-8)

  11. Because of Christ… …and in Christ, We have the ability to look upon death not with fear but anticipation.

  12. Periods of life when you wish time would stand still…

  13. You can’t stop the inevitable. Chief priests & Pharisees found that out. Pilate said to them,“You have a guard; go, make it as secure as you know how.” And they went and made the grave secure, and along with the guard they set a seal on the stone. (Matthew 27:65-66)

  14. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.(Matthew 28:2-4)

  15. The Stone was rolled away so people could seein, not for Jesus to getout!

  16. The chief priests and Pharisees were trying to sealup the Son of God.They tried to stop the inevitable. Do we?

  17. Do we ever try to do the same thing? Ever put Jesus in a corner of your life and ask Him to stay there and not interfere?

  18. God’s plan Prepare me for eternity!

  19. 1. The Resurrection Proclaims The Power Of God. The message of Easter is that soldiers, stones nor seals can stop God’splans… nothing can except you.

  20. I wasn’t there, I didn’t see it, but I believe it with all my heart.

  21. WWII

  22. I’ve heard testimony from those who were there. I’ve read the account of their victories. I believe them.

  23. I also believe because I know our world would be a much different place if we had not won the war.

  24. I was not there when Jesus rose from the dead but I believe it with… WHY? ALL MY HEART!!!

  25. Eyewitness Testimony For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures

  26. and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.(I Corinthians 15:3-8)

  27. and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.(I Corinthians 15:3-8)

  28. 1What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life 2and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us. (I John 1:1-2)

  29. Our world is a different place because Jesus is alive. and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.(I Corinthians 15:14)

  30. “Don’t worry about it, 10 years from now nobody will remember.”

  31. 2. The Resurrection Changes The Way We Look At Life And Death

  32. When God talks about death He uses different wordsthan we do.

  33. Easter paints a great picture of hope! False hope is no hope.

  34. Some homes are peaceful Some graduate Some marriages succeed

  35. Blessing Curse

  36. The emptytomb is the greatest source of joy for those who are in Christ. Greatest source of judgment& condemnationfor those who are not.
