Leadership Clarksville 2010 May 2010

  8. Green Certification Program • This program has commitment from both Mayors. It will engage larger companies to provide leadership and resources to help smaller companies improve their environmental stewardship. • Expected results include: • Improved / Reduced Energy Use • Improved Air, Water & Waste Management • Resulting in reduced cost for companies and the governments Leadership Clarksville 2010 May 2010

  9. Green Certification Program • Highlights • Government Sponsored – Industry Led • Steering Committee – Industry / Govt. • Dedicated Governmental Administrator, partly Industry Funded • Recognition Program for Participants • Banquet Fund Raisers • Expect program to be self funding Leadership Clarksville 2010 May 2010

  10. Quick Wins No. 1 • Our committee has worked with Bi-County Solid Waste Management along with a few selected contractors to improve construction recycling. This effort has proven successful for the collection of cardboard, wood, plastic, and sheetrock. As a result of this effort, Bi-County SWM purchased a sheet rock grinder for loan to any contractor wishing to use it to grind leftover sheetrock. • The sheetrock can then be worked into the dirt as lime for the yards. Bi-County and the contractors were eager to work with us on creating successful solutions that helped all involved. It is recommended that this program continue with the expansion of more contractors and locations for recycle collections sites for construction waste. Leadership Clarksville 2010 May 2010

  13. Quick Wins No. 3 • The Energy Conservation Team has multiple recommendations within Quick Win No. 3. • Establish a policy to procure energy efficient products • Improve energy efficiency in municipal buildings • City/County should adopt most recent energy code (2006 IECC) • Administrator from Green Certification Program can help this program also. Leadership Clarksville 2010 May 2010
