Health • Health is very important for everybody. • We should protect our physical health as well as our mental health. • At the time of the creation of the World Health Organization (WHO), in 1948, health was defined as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity".

  3. The World’s Differences in Health • There are many differences between developing countries and advanced countries. • This fact displays in the life expentancy. • In developing countries the life expentancy is slightly over 40 years, whereas in advanced countries over 80 years.

The main factors which negatively affect health in developing countries: • Infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS (more than 40 milion people who are infected), malaria (500 milion people), tuberculosis • Malnutrition • Lack of water • Bad hygienic conditions • Unavailable medicine • Lack of doctors

  6. The Medical Care in the Czech Republic • There are state and private facilities. • Most of them have contracts with insurance companies, so they provide medical care without direct payment. • The medical care consists of: • ambulance • hospital care • preventative care • transportation of ill, injured people and pregnant women • spa care • medicine and health utilities

TheMedical Care in Great Britain • The public medical care is provided by National Health Service (NHS). • It provides these services: hospitals, doctors, dentists, chemist’s, ocularists, ambulance. • Demand on medical care have: British citizens, everybody who lives at least one year in the UK, citizens of EU, students studying more than 6 months, anybody with British work permit. • The private medical care is very effective, professional and reliable. That’s why many people, who can afford it, use rather private facilities.

The Preventative Care • The preventative care is very important for our health. • We should keep the terms of our medical examination: • in the first year of life: 9 times a year • in 18 months • in 3 years and then always once 2 years • At the dentist’s: • children and teenagers: twice a year • pregnant women: twice during the pregnancy • adults: once a year

  9. The Healthy Way of Life • Eating healthy foods • Avoid excessive fats, sugar, and alcohol • No nicotine • Exercise • Drink plenty of water: • at least eight glasses of water a day

  10. What to eat to stay healthy

  11. Our diet should consist of: • Milk Group: Protein: • 2-3 servingsof milk, 2-4 servings offish, • yogurt, chicken, turkey • low-fat cheese beans, nuts, eggs • Vegetables: Fruit Group: • 3-5 servings 2-4 servings • Bread, Cereal, Rice & Pasta:6-11 servings

  12. Exercise is good for our health • AerobicsStrength training • FlexibilityEndurance • All four types of exercise are needed to stay fit. • You should exercise at least for 30-60 minutes 3-4 times a week.

  13. What can make you unhealthy • Excessivesugar Fast food as a steady diet • Smoking Alcohol
