First Week at 200 GeV in PHENIX John Haggerty Brookhaven National Laboratory
April 21- • Started taking physics data April 21 • Rebalanced EMCAL gains for 25 GeV full scale • +- field • Modest tuning of trigger mix • Now running with alcohol in both arms of Pad Chamber • Various problems popped up (EMCAL trigger most notable) which we repaired as quickly as we could • Some special running conditions (zero field, vernier scan)
Data so far Few hundred million trggers with good livetime Early production of central arm J/ψ Ilia Ravinovich and Todd Kempel
In the next week • We need to maintain (increase) the polarization as much as possible • A few percent in polarization is worth a lot! • The spin flipper is important; our estimate (due to Abhay) is that statistical and systematic errors will be approximately equal in the lowest pT bin when we have accumulated 13 pb-1 so depending on how luminosity increases we may need it sooner, but we need to get some experience as soon as we can
