  3. Euclid of Alexandria • Wrote the “Elements” • The book has been studied for 24 centuries • Lead a team of mathematicians in Alexandria, Egypt • Known as the “father of geometry”

  4. Pythagorus • Pythagorean theorem=used to find side length in a right triangle.(see board) • Tetractys=triangle figure of 4 rows, which adds up to the perfect number 10 • influences include Plato and Pythagorean Brotherhood.

  5. Hippocrates • Greek Physician born in 460BC in cos, Greece • Founded medicine • Believed illness had a physical and rational explanation not caused by the goas.
